Saraiyakishan Farmers Producer Company Limited (SKFPCL), supported by NABARD and registered under the Company Act 2013, is a transformative force in the lives of 1006 small and marginal farmers in Muzaffarpur District, Bihar. With agriculture as their main occupation, SKFPCL, promoted by Kaushalya Foundation, aims to strengthen farmer capacity through collective action and agricultural best practices, ensuring access to quality inputs, and facilitating market linkages.
Through the establishment of village-level collection centers for farm produce aggregation, SKFPCL directly procures crops from farmers during the harvest season and sells them to institutional buyers like ITC and DeHaat after sorting and grading, yielding higher profits for the farmers. In the financial year 2022–23, the FPO achieved a business turnover of INR 20,45,201/- for wheat, paddy, and maize. Furthermore, SKFPCL plans to set up a Wheat Processing Unit and a warehouse worth INR 1.15 Cr at Saraiya.
The FPO’s membership comprises small and marginal farmers from various castes and communities. To empower its members, SKFPCL provides facilities such as weather reports and commodity prices, enabling them to make informed decisions and negotiate better deals for their produce.
Major interventions
Major interventions include establishing market linkages with ITC, DeHaat, and Anmol Feeds, as well as mobilizing 1006 farmers and receiving an equity grant of 3 lakhs. The FPO has also conducted technology demonstrations in collaboration with KVK Saraiya and ICAR-RCER to showcase best practices and enhance productivity.
For the purpose of maket linkage meeting was been held between members of ITC (Mr. Vivek Kumar) and the CEO (Mr. Ashwani Kumar) and BODs of Saraiya Kisan Farmer Producer Company Limited for wheat procurement with ITC. Several times meeting was held meeting and finally the FPO have sold their wheat produce to ITC.
Technology demonstration has been conducted in Zaid 2022, Kharif 2022 and Rabi 2022 with support of KVK Saraiya and ICAR-RCER.

A crop museum have been established for scented rice- Sabour Surbhit (120 days), Sabout Suvashini (120 days) and Bhagalpur Katarni (155 days) in Kharif 2023.
Future Plan
Looking ahead, SKFPCL’s future plans include warehousing of wheat produce, marketing of multigrain atta, promotion of rural tourism, and community-level technology adoption.
